Great Organizations
I can't say enough about the great work the folks at Design-Her-Gals do for women with Stage IV breast cancer. If you have never visited their site, go now. It's almost more fun that than a grown-up gal should have. You can make an online gal that resembles you or a friend, dress 'em up and use them on e-notes (free from the site) or on note cards and other great gifts you can purchase there. Proceeds benefit women who are often overlooked in the charitable (and admirable) whirlwind surrounding looking for a breast cancer cure.
The image of me on the home page comes courtesy of Design-Her-Gals. Many an hour I should have been writing, I've spent dressing my gals. Too, too fun.
I also urge you to support the Pittsburgh AIDS Task Force, an organization dedicated to saving, sustaining and empowering the lives of people with HIV and AIDS in Western Pennsylvania. I'm proud to be on the board there. The people at PATF are among the most committed and talented I've ever seen. Their compassion for those affected and tireless work in the area of prevention takes my breath away.
