NGC Picture Dear Friends,

What a year! Good-bye 2012 and your fiscal cliffs and crazy celebrities and weird weather, and welcome 2013 and your… Oh, wait. Never mind. Same thing. The years begin to run together—especially when you’re as old as I am.

socks We did have a great and surprising year. We woke up one morning in early June with no plan on moving in the near (or distant) future, and ended up owning a new urban aerie by 2 pm. Our eighteen-year-old daughter, who had graduated from high school a mere 30 hours earlier and was halfway to the Bonnaroo music festival in Tennessee when we called with the news, was flabbergasted—mainly because she wondered if she’d even have a bed when she got back. All my plans for a relaxing summer writing were out the door. We packed, cleaned, painted, repaired, donated, and held yard sales for most of the summer, but our reward was a great new condo with a fantastic view of downtown Pittsburgh, a terrace that gave us front row seats at a dozen jaw-dropping fireworks displays this summer and fall, and a heated pool that served as a happy sojourn from life’s pressures almost every afternoon until mid-October. I feel like I’m on vacation all the time, and shouldn’t that always be one’s goal in life?

view view So my wish for 2013 is a long period of every day being like exactly like the one before it. No exciting changes for me, thank you very much. And my wish for you is lots of joy, peace and time with friends and loved ones.

timeless_desire Cost: Less than $1. The smile on your face: Priceless.
Somewhere in between deciding which fondue pot to keep and giving Goodwill 16 bags of clothes I can't fit in my closet anymore, Timeless Desire came out. I hope you all enjoyed it. But if you own an e-reader and haven’t read it yet (or if you don’t own an e-reader and just want to toss some support my way for less than the cost of a pack of gum,) may I suggest hopping on over to your favorite online bookstore right now. The cost of the ebook edition has been lowered to an awe-inspiring 99 CENTS until January 7! That’s right, people. 99 CENTS!!

Here’s the link to the ebook on Amazon and Barnes and Noble. It’s also darn easy to give the ebook to a friend or loved one who just got an e-reader for the holidays. All you need is an email address. The “Give as a Gift” button is just to the right of the “Buy” button on B&N and just below it on Amazon.

My Next Book
My agent is shopping my next project to publishers now. Keep your fingers crossed. It’s my first trilogy. It’s about three amazing women on the borderlands of Scotland and England—Abby, the clan chieftess from Timeless Desire, Undine, the fortune teller from Timeless Desire, and a new character, Serabeth, who owns a shipping business—and the twenty-first century men they mistakenly call to them. For fans of A Novel Seduction, the trilogy also marks the return of Duncan, the Jamie Fraser lookalike.

Downton Abbey
It’s Downton Abbey time again. I hope you’ve been brushing up on Season 2 episodes so that you’re up-to-date when Season 3 premieres this Sunday. Even if you have no interest in Twitter most of the year, let me encourage you to consider signing up just for the run of Downton Abbey. It’s a ton of fun to watch the show and see the comments people are making at the same time. And think of how impressed your children will be when you’re dropping terms like, “hashtag abuser” and “Twitpic” at dinner. Technically, you don’t have to follow anyone in order to enjoy the Downton Abbey Twitter feed. All you need to do is type “#downton” in your Search box the instant the show starts. But, of course, I’m hoping you’ll follow me (@GwynCready.) I’m going to be tweeting all of Downton as well as the Golden Globes and Oscars.

Contest
I’m giving away three copies of Timeless Desire. Here are the different ways to win:
  1. Enter your email address here by January 8;
  2. Friend me on Facebook by January 8;
  3. Follow me on Twitter by January 8
If you're already a fan on Facebook or you already follow me on Twitter, rest easy. You're already entered to win.

Happy New Year and (back to vacation),
